A: Most disability laws prohibit housing discrimination. Assuming that persons with HIV
related disease are considered disabled or handicapped, and assuming that the person is obeying the terms of his/ her lease, he/she cannot be evicted or denied housing because he/she has this disease.

Q: Can an
employer fire me because I'm gay or in another group with a high incidence of AIDS?
A: Unfortunately most cities do not prohibit anti-gay discrimination. However, persons who work for the state of Ohio, and for the City of Columbus, are in most cases protected from discrimination, by virtue of the Governor's Executive Order 83-62 and the Mayor's Equal Employment Opportunity Policy. In addition, federal law forbids discrimination on the basis of perceived disability, which may assist persons who are perceived as having AIDS.
